Tools for 2014 – Getting Healthy with Meals

Tools for 2014 – Getting Healthy with Meals Do you know what the top New Year’s resolution is? Drumroll please . . . it’s to get healthy! Everyone needs to change their habits and get healthy in some way. This week we are discussing getting healthy with meals. Here are some examples in no particular order: Quit drinking soda Recently I read an article that said if you give up drinking soda that you could lose up to 15 lbs in a year. Isn’t that crazy!? Now, I love diet coke. But the sugary carbonated drink is just not good for me. I gave it up a few weeks ago. Count your calories This seems like such a simple thing. But once you start counting calories you become way more aware of how many calories you were eating. There are plenty of apps out there that you can use on your smart phone. I like My Fitness Pal. Portion control It’s all about portion control. Here in America we all over-eat! A few weeks ago, I began portioning out our meals. You get whats on your plate but nothing more. This has helped me to lose weight already! Take a Whole30 challenge This is big in the CrossFit world. But it’s actually a great concept. It has you cut out sugar, dairy, and grains for 30 days. Basically you are eating fruits, vegetables, and meat.  If the thought of planning those 30 days is overwhelming to you. Don’t let it be! Here is a link to blog called Eat at Home. She has a list of 31 meals that...

An Update and Thank You from the Walkup Family

An Update and Thank You from the Walkup Family It’s been a few months since we lost our home and belongings to a fire so we thought we could give everyone an update. Also, we have been trying to find a way to really thank everyone for all the generosity we received. First things first – we have put together a newletter with all that’s been going on since October. You can view that by clicking here – WalkupNewsletter. We are so incredibly thankful for all the support from this community. Forsyth County is definitely the best place to live! Thank you all for the calls, emails, comments, donations of money, donations of toys, donations of clothes. We have all we need because of others generosity. Everyday we are reminded just how grateful we are for others. As a thank you – we created this video:  31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:31-33 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 For more updates you can follow Rachael on her Blog, Facebook, or Twitter. From the bottom of our hearts – we thank...
